We know that for many parents, the first trip to the dentist is filled with "what ifs." What if my child cries? What if they won't open their mouth? What if they are afraid?
At Nurture Kids Dentistry, we are experts in turning those "what ifs" into high-fives. Our Sammamish pediatric dentist office is designed from the ground up to be a non-threatening, curiosity-filled space where children feel safe. Whether your child is a confident 10-year-old or a timid toddler, we move at their pace.
Step-by-Step: The First Visit Experience
The Warm Welcome

When you walk in, you won’t find a cold, clinical waiting room. You’ll find a bright, cheerful space with toys, books, and iPads to help your child transition from "outside" to "inside" with excitement. Our front desk team will greet your child by name, making them feel like a VIP immediately.
The Happy Tour

We don't rush straight to the chair. We take a moment to show your child around. We introduce them to the "magic chair" (it goes up and down!), the "water shooter" (the rinsing hose), and Mr. Thirsty (the straw). By demystifying the tools before we use them, we take the fear of the unknown away.
The Exam

- For Infants & Toddlers (Under 3): We use the "Knee-to-Knee" Technique. You sit in a chair with your child on your lap facing you. You lower their head onto Dr. Jumani’s lap while holding their hands. This allows the child to see you the entire time while Dr. Jumani counts their teeth.
- For Older Children (3+): Your child gets to hop into the dental chair! We put on their favorite cartoon on the ceiling TV and use the "Tell-Show-Do" method: we Tell them what we are going to do, Show them the tool on their finger, and then Do the cleaning.
The Prize

This is the most important part! Every child leaves with a balloon, a sticker, and a toy from our treasure chest. We want the last memory of the visit to be a positive, celebratory one.
